Feedback: Sting Operation At Watertown Supermarket

The Price Chopper supermarket in Watertown was swarming with activity Wednesday after the discovery of 20,000 honey bees.

A deli worker spotted the busy bees in a tree along the side of the grocery store.

"I come in for work and pull up over there and I said, 'Oh, those are bees,'" said Patrick Arsenault, who made the discovery.

Beekeeper Ted Elk of Many Flowers Honey Company was called in to remove the insects.

Price Chopper workers gathered outside to watch the sting operation, which did indeed leave Elk with a few stings.

Elk lured the bees from their hive into a makeshift home by using a sugar solution.

Once the queen leaves the tree, the worker bees will follow.

"They all just kind of march right in and set up house all over again," said Elk.

Elk plans to take the hive back to his farm to make honey.

The honey will then be packaged and sold to - of all places - Price Chopper.

Talk about a sweet deal!
