Fiery Adirondack Crash Kills 3

State police in Malone say three people are dead after a fiery two-vehicle collision in the rural Adirondack town of Duane.
 
Troopers said Sunday that a 2001 Ford Expedition driven by 62-year-old Peter Patrenicola of Malone was heading north on state Route 30 around 3 p.m. Saturday when it crossed into the southbound lane and hit a 2005 BMW.
 
The three people in the BMW were pronounced dead at the scene. They're identified as 42-year-old Patrick M. Krolak of Chicago, the driver; 72-year-old Patrick D. Krolak and 70-year-old Rita Krolak of Dover, Mass.
 
Patrenicola's SUV overturned and burst into flames but he was rescued by a passerby. He's listed in stable condition at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vermont.
 
The accident remains under investigation.
