Fighting Cancer through 10th Annual SpokerRide

Hundreds of cyclists hit the streets of Sackets Harbor Saturday morning to take part in SpokerRide 2012.

This year's 10th annual SpokerRide is a ten, 30, or 50 mile benefit ride to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation and Relay for Life.

The organizers of SpokerRide 2012 say raising money to fight cancer and bringing more cancer awareness to the community are important causes that mean a lot to them on a personal level:

"We're raising money to benefit those causes, and it's kind of a giveback from my brother and I. We're both survivors, and this is our tenth year again," explained organizer Steven Wood.

Wood says the growth of the event over the last decade has been unbelievable.

There were just 64 riders the first year. This year, about 200 people took part in the ride.
