Final SUNY Canton Presidential Candidate Visits Campus

The last of five candidates for SUNY Canton president visited the campus Monday where she described herself as "a network person" who would be "an ambassador to the campus" if named to the job.

Dr. Mary Gresham is the current vice-provost at the University of Buffalo, also a SUNY campus.

She says this is the first job she has applied for since 1973, saying her promotion to other positions has been the result of being selected.

Gresham says she sees the Canton campus as a catalyst and a leader to help bring new industry and business into the area.

She told a campus gathering that transparency, bolstering enrollments and improving accountability would be her three main goals.

"Combined technology and academics I think is where our future is and I think Canton has tremendous groundwork already to capitalize on that," said Gresham.

The college's search committee will now recommend up to three candidates to SUNY Central with action on an appointment expected within the next few months.
