Fine Accuser Admits He Is Also An AbuserNorth Country native Zach Tomaselli, one of people accusing former assistant Syracuse University basketball coach Bernie Fine of child molesting, has admitted to molesting a boy himself. Tomaselli, formerly of Rutland, initially made the confession to The Daily Orange, a Syracuse University student newspaper. "The biggest reason, actually, was I can't expect Bernie to come clean and my father to come clean about what they did to me, if I can't come clean about what I've done," Tomaselli said. Tomaselli, who now lives in Maine, says he molested a close friend's younger brother. He said he served as the teen's assistant soccer coach and was his camp counselor at one time. "I certainly don't want to put that kid through any more than he needs to go through. I don't want to put him through any more pain. I think it's time for healing for him and his family." He says he abused the boy in the same way he claims he was abused by Fine and his own father. Both men deny abusing Tomaselli. Tomaselli has pleaded not guilty to 11 charges. He now says he's sick of hiding behind his attorney and anticipates pleading guilty to some of them. "I've had my time to get counseling, I've had my time to decide what to do. I've obviously decided to come forward and admit things and now it's my time to face the music and see what my punishment is." Tomaselli says he expects to be back in court later this month. |
