Fire Damages Home Near Evans MillsA home in the town of LeRay was damaged by fire Monday afternoon. Fire officials say a clothes dryer touched off a flame at the Lavancha home on the Bedlam Road near Evans Mills. The fire broke out around 4 p.m. and firefighters from several departments had the blaze under control in about an hour. "We got our crews here as fast as we could," said Evans Mills aassisstant fire chief Shawn Rutnanis. "Water was an issue right at the beginning," he said. "Once we got water flowing, we knocked down the fire and the building's standing." Three people in the house escaped safely. |
