Fire Damages Lowville's Lighthouse RestaurantA Lowville landmark was damaged by fire overnight.
Damage to the roof was described as moderate, with heavy water damage to the first floor. Authorities said the fire started upstairs. The blaze was believed to have been electrical in origin. No injuries were reported. The restaurant is owned by Glendon Widrick of Castorland. Widrick said it's too soon to say what will happen to the building or its 17 employees. "Hopefully we'll be back up and running in a year or two or a month or two or a decade or two, whatever, who knows," said Widrick. Four motel rooms were occupied at the time of the fire. A few guests were homeless people receiving temporary shelter. The property has formerly been known as Rossdale's and Country Bob's. |
