Fire Destroys Town Of Champion BarnA barn was destroyed by fire overnight in the town of Champion. An unknown number of cattle died in the fire on County Route 47. One person suffered a minor knee injury. Eight fire departments responded to the blaze that was first reported at 10:30 Tuesday. Officials say the rural location of the fire was a challenge. "We ended up tankering it out from a hydrant in the village and then bring it out here to put the fire out," said Tim Thomas of the Great Bend Fire Department. The cause of the fire is under investigation. |
