Fire Destroys Town Of Clayton Mobile Home

Fire destroyed a mobile home late Monday morning in the town of Clayton.

Volunteers from at least five fire departments were called to the 1000 Island Trailer Park on Route 12 shortly before noon.

According to neighbors and the owner of the park, Ray Henry of Syracuse lived in the home, but hasn't stayed there in months after undergoing heart surgery.

Clayton Fire Chief Chris Barton said the fire got its start in the kitchen, but didn't know what sparked the blaze.

He said the home was a total loss.

Firefighters from Clayton, Fishers Landing, Alexandria Bay, LaFargeville and Depauville battled the blaze.
