Tools

St. Lawrence County has its first confirmed case of the flu and officials are urging those who haven't gotten the flu shot to get it soon.

Interim County Public Health Director Lorraine Kourofsky says a child under the age of five was diagnosed with the flu on November 26.

Kourofsky says among the confirmed flu cases in the north country and around the nation, 72 percent are from influenza A, 20 percent are from influenza B and the remainder were not typed.

County public health officials say it's not too late to get your flu shot.

It takes about two weeks after the immunization to provide protection against the virus.
