First Snowfall For Watertown

It was bound to happen - after all, it is November 17 and we've been very lucky so far.

We're talking about snow in Watertown.

Heavy, wet flakes began falling Thursday afternoon and, at times, came down sideways.

It's not supposed to add up to much in the city, but that's an entirely different story elsewhere.

In Lewis County, a lake effect snow advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Friday.

People there can expect between 4 to 6 inches of snow.

In Oswego County, there's a lake effect snow warning in effect until 11 a.m. Friday.

There could be accumulation of 6 to 8 inches.

According to the National Weather Service, lake effect systems can vary from locally heavy snow in narrow bands to clear skies just a few miles away.

If you're traveling across the region, be prepared for rapid changes in road and visibility conditions.
