Friday: Floods Close 18 Roads In Lewis County

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office has closed 18 roads due to flooding.

As of 2:30 p.m. Friday, the closed roads were:

  • East Martinsburg Road, Martinsburg
  • Blue Street, Martinsburg
  • Ridge Road, Denmark
  • Merz Road, Denmark
  • Zecher Road, Denmark
  • Smith Road, West Turin
  • Moose River Road, Lyonsdale
  • River Road (between Port Leyden and Boonville), Lyonsdale
  • Shibley Road, Lyonsdale
  • River Road (off Lyons Falls Road), Grieg
  • Bliss Road, Grieg
  • Burdicks Crossing Road, Greig
  • Greig Road (between Burdicks Crossing and Sweeney Road), Greig
  • Number Four Road, Lowville
  • Ridge Road, Lowville
  • Waters Road, Lowville
  • Milkhouse Road, Turin
  • Route 126 (between Route 410 and Swiss Road)

Lyons Falls Road from Laura Street to Burdicks Crossing Road reopened Friday afternoon.

Highmarket Road at Fisk Creek Road, West Turin, Greig Road at Pine Grove Road and Lyons Falls Road at River Road were reopened late Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Black River at Boonville and Watertown until this evening.

The river was expected to crest above flood stage at 10.1 feet by Thursday evening.

A flood warning was also issued for the Beaver River in Lewis County until 2:30 p.m. Friday.
