Flu Season Going Strong As Holidays Wind Down
The holiday season may be winding down, but the flu season isn't.
To help everyone get through this season, Jefferson County Public Health is holding weekly flu clinics.
They offer the traditional flu shot and, for a limited time, a flu mist.
Anyone age 18 or under who hasn't received the vaccination is encouraged to stop by Public Health between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday.
Health officials stress to not take the flu lightly.
"Over 20,000 kids every year are hospitalized in the U.S. with influenza," said Patricia Esford of Jefferson County Public Health.
"It's not to be taken lightly, and kids especially. We look out for our kids in this country. We need to get them vaccinated against flu," she said.
Health officials say they have a limited supply of the flu mist available.
