Former Gouverneur Mayor Pleads Not Guilty

Former Gouverneur mayor Christopher Miller was back in a St. Lawrence County courtroom where he entered not guilty pleas to charges he defrauded two residents in a house transaction.
 
Miller was indicted on felony charges of third-degree grand larceny and first-degree offering a false instrument for allegedly attempting to sell a house at 31 Edith Street in Gouverneur on a fraudulent land contract.

Court documents say the house Miller was attempting to sell had a co-signer who had not given permission for the transaction.

Miller also filed a bankruptcy petition with the Northern District Bankruptcy Court alleging he had received a personal loan from the potential buyers.

Miller also faces a hearing on a probation violation stemming from a trespass and petit larceny conviction in Jefferson County in connection with the latest charges.
