Former SUNY Canton Student Re-Sentenced In Stabbing Case

A former SUNY Canton student convicted of brutally stabbing another student during an alleged gang assault in 2008 has been re-sentenced to prison.

A state appellate court in January reduced charges against 21 year old Rudy Dorfeuille to first degree attempted assault and first degree attempted gang assault in connection with the stabbing of Matthew Rivera in October 2008.

The state court also ordered Dorfeuille to be re-sentenced.

He was acquitted of attempted murder charges and was originally sentenced to 12 years in prison.

St. Lawrence County Court Judge Jerome Richards re-sentenced Dorfeuille Wednesday to a maximum of 11 years in prison with five years post-release supervision.

A second defendant, 22 year old Darryl Tucker, also had his original sentence thrown out by a state court and will be re-sentenced on similar charges Friday.
