Former Y Employee Admits Embezzling $35K

A 32 year old Glen Park woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to embezzling from the Watertown YMCA, where she once worked as a billing supervisor for a children's after-school program.

Aimee Patton of 106 Superior Street was originally charged with a felony count of third-degree grand larceny.

She pleaded guilty in Jefferson County Court to a lesser count of fourth-degree grand larceny.

She admitted to stealing more than $35,000 from the Y.

When she was arrested in February, Watertown City Police Detective Sergeant Joseph Donoghue said Patton falsified paperwork to steal money from February 2009 to November 2009.

Patton was a billing supervisor of the Y's School Age Child Care, or SACC program.

According to the Y's web site, SACC is an after-school and summer program for students in kindergarten through sixth grade.

It's available at eight school districts in Jefferson County.

According to Donoghue, Patton was hired in June 2008 and was fired in November 2009 after Y officials discovered the money was missing.

Watertown police arrested Patton on February 17, 2012 after a lengthy investigation.

She will be sentenced on August 8.

Patton is expected to be sentenced to five years probation and ordered to pay back $36,580 to the Y.
