Fort Drum Monument Is Back After Taking Tumble

Tools

The iconic Military Mountaineers statue is safely and securely back on its base in Fort Drum's Memorial Park.

A tent, which had been set up for a Veterans Day ceremony, was torn loose in high winds last week.

The tent knocked the 18-foot tall Military Mountaineers statue off its base.

The 1,800 pound statue landed in such a way in the mulch that there was only minimal damage to the base and no damage to the artwork itself.

The statue was returned on Thursday.
