They spent the past few months rebuilding Afghanistan, but now they're home.

Just over 100 soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team returned to Fort Drum Wednesday morning to a homecoming ceremony.

As they were reunited with their families, there was a lot of hugging, crying and smiling.

"It was very exciting to finally make it back home, see the north country and my family and all of of the soldiers reuniting with their families as well," said Captain Bethany Landeck, who returned home.

The soldiers had been working with Afghan security forces in Ghazni province.
