Fort Drum To Get New Leader Next Monday

Next Monday, Fort Drum and 10th Mountain Division will have a new leader.

The local post announced it will hold a change of command ceremony at 10 a.m. at the Magrath Sports Complex.

Major General Mark Milley will relinquish command of Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division to Major General Stephen Townsend.

Milley has been nominated for promotion to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Commanding General, III Corps and Fort Hood, Fort Hood, Texas.

Townsend recently served as the Director, Pakistan/Afghanistan Coordination Cell, J-5, Joint Staff, Washington, DC.

Townsend is no stranger to Fort Drum, having served at the post in the late 90s and early 2000s.
