Fort Drum Welcomes Home 3rd BCT TroopsThere were plenty of happy faces at Fort Drum last night as 140 members of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team arrived home. Twenty-two members of the Spartans died while serving in Afghanistan over the past year. While there, the team partnered with Afghan national security forces in the province of Kandahar. Members of the USO at Fort Drum were among those on hand to greet the returning troops. The soldiers follow a flight of about 100 who returned recently. A Fort Drum spokesman says the rest of the 3,600-member brigade is slated to return to Fort Drum in 10 to 12 flights over the next three to four weeks. |
