A St. Lawrence County Grand Jury will hear evidence in the case of a Rensselaer Falls man who allegedly struck and killed a Canton bicyclist in a hit and run collision just before Christmas.

28 year old Daniel Lester appeared in Canton Court for a preliminary hearing in connection with the late night December 23 hit and run accident that left 69 year old Richard Morrow dead.

A State Police drug recognition expert testified that Lester was not intoxicated but appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic, a depressant and marijuana in the hours shortly after he was apprehended and taken into custody.

Troopers also testified that Lester made "certain admissions" during his questioning.

Close to 50 of Morrow's friends and supporters wore black armbands in his memory during Lester's 90 minute court appearance.

Despite a request by prosecutors to increase Lester's bail to $200,000 cash...Judge Christopher Curley ordered bail be continued at $7,500 cash or $15,000 bond.
