Feedback: Injured Soldier Home For The HolidaysSergeant 1st Class Jeffrey Hackett is home for the holidays, after being severely injured by a roadside bomb in August. Hackett, a member of the 10th Mountain Division's 3rd Brigade Combat Team, lost his right leg, fractured his left leg and suffered nerve damage to his right arm when he stepped on an IED. So to see him walking at his home in Belleville (southern Jefferson County) is to be reminded of some very hard work. Hackett had other wounded soldiers to inspire him, as he recovered at Walter Reed hospital. "Down there in physical therapy, you had guys, double, triple amputees. You see these guys walking, that motivates you." The motivation is needed: the house Hackett and family bought last summer has stairs that must be climbed. "A simple thing that you take for granted every day, for me it's like clImbing a mountain." However, he's not complaining. "You're alive. That's the way I look at it."
