An inmate at the St. lawrence County jail was charged Friday after a search yielded matches and a partial "suboxone" pill, according to the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's department.
Justin J. LaFleur, 25, formerly of Massena, was already in jail on a parole violation charge.
Deputies said the items turned up during a search by corrections officers.
LaFleur now faces charges of promting prison contraband, first degree, a felony; promoting prison contraband, second degree, a misdemeanor; criminal possession of a controlledsubstance. He was ordered held onanadditional $2,500 bail, and will answer the charges in Canton town court later in the month.
Suboxone is drug used to treat addiction to other painkillers, though it has also been abused for the high it can produce.
