Funeral Home Asks Public's Help Honoring Fort Drum SoldierA local funeral home is asking people to line the streets in honor of a fallen Fort Drum soldier. Sgt. Daniel Rodriguez was killed in Afghanistan on July 18 when the vehicle he was in was struck by a roadside bomb. Funeral services are July 31 and Lundy Funeral Home of Carthage is asking the public to stand vigil on the sidewalks as the funeral procession travels to Brookside Cemetery in Watertown. Motorcyclists from the Patriot Riders Guard will lead the procession from 500 State Street in Carthage starting between 2 and 2:30 p.m. The procession will travel through Carthage and West Carthage, where it will turn right on North Broad Street, then left onto State Route 126 to Watertown. Rodriguez, 28, was originally from Baltimore, Maryland, but his family decided to hold his funeral service in the north country because of the time he spent at Fort Drum. He was a heavy vehicle driver with the 110th Transportation Company, 548th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade. Rodriguez is survived by his wife, Tiffanie, and three children, Celeste, Serenity and Daniel Jr. |
