The Washington Post considers her America's funniest science writer.
Mary Roach visited Potsdam, where she was the convocation speaker Sunday at Clarkson University.
The New York Times bestselling author portrays her love of science in all her books, such as "Gulp," which takes a look at the quirkier side of science.
"This is just a really vital, ever-changing, fun world to be in . Secretly, I wish I were a scientist, she said.
"This is my way of being involved in that world, is to write about it."
Roach didn't prepare a script for her presentation. She planned to improvise and answer any questions the audience had.
