Could Fort Drum be in the market to buy power from the the proposed Galloo Island wind farm?

It's possible, according to a document from the project's developer.

Upstate NY Power Corp recently filed an application with the state Department of Public Service.

According to the document, the developer is abandoning plans to run power lines under water.

However, the company says it's working with other parties to route a transmission line through the town of Hounsfield to the Coffeen Street Station.

According to the document, the developer hopes to strike a deal to have the Department of Defense buy the power from the wind farm, which may allow the company to sell electricity to Fort Drum.

The Galloo Island project suffered a serious blow last September when the New York Power Authority abandoned plans to buy power from the farm.

The wind farm needs someone to buy its power, in order for the finances to work out.
