Garrett Phillips Remembered On 2nd Anniversary Of His Death

Tools

A community is remembering a 12 year old Potsdam boy who was killed two years ago.

Garrett Phillips' homicide remains unsolved. Police say he was strangled to death in his mother's Market Street apartment.

Police suspect his killer jumped from an upstairs window to escape.

Neighbors told police they heard noises and shouts coming from the bedroom where Garrett was strangled.

While police acknowledge they have a person of interest in the boy's death, no arrests have been made.

Potsdam police continue to work with state police investigators to follow leads.

District Attorney Nicole Duve will only say it remains an open investigation.

"I will not share or do anything to compromise that investigation in any way, shape or form," Duve said. "It is an ongoing police investigation."

Members of the community will be at Potsdam Central School at 5:30 p.m. Thursday for a balloon release and remembrance ceremony.
