General Brown Rents School Buses After Fire

It was back to business as usual for the General Brown Central School District Monday.

The district rented buses to get kids to class following Friday night's fire at the bus garage.

Officials said an electrical short in one of the buses was to blame for the fire, which broke out shortly before 9 p.m.

The blaze destroyed two buses and damaged the remaining 20.

"The most important thing is to have the kids here for the instructional day. We didn't lose the instructional day," said district Superintendent Stephan Vigliotti.

The district is renting 24 buses.

The cost is $100 a day, per bus.

If the buses are rented for a month, which officials expect, the price tag will be $72,000.

Vigliotti expects insurance to cover the cost.
