Grand Jury Indicts Massena Man For Vehiclular Manslaughter

A Massena man accused of running down and killing a Level 3 sex offender who was crossing the street has been indicted by a St. Lawrence County grand jury.

The indictment charges 21 year old James "Alex" Berry of 36 Park Avenue with felony second-degree vehicular manslaughter and driving while ability impaired by drugs or alcohol.

Berry was driving a pickup truck on East Orvis Street on August 2 when he allegedly struck 46 year old Edward Remington, dragging him approximately 15 to 20 feet down the street.

Remington died of multiple skull fractures and internal injuries in a Vermont hospital the following day.
