Grand Jury Indicts Nurses In Drug Theft Cases


A Jefferson County grand jury has indicted two nurses who were arrested back in May for illegally dispensing drugs from an automated pharmacy system at Samaritan Medical Center.

The grand jury indicted 32 year old Carson Fanning of Richland on a total of 124 counts.

Fanning is accused of illegally dispensing painkillers Percocet, morphine and Norco as well as the anti-anxiety drug Valium.

The alleged thefts occurred between December 9, 2012 and March 11, 2013.

The other indicted nurse is 41 year old Heather Graham of Ithaca.

She was indicted on 40 counts.

Graham is alleged to have stolen the painkiller Dilaudid from the system over numerous occasions in April and May.

The pair face charges of falsifying business records in the first-degree, petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and prohibited acts under the public health law.
