Greenhill Named Gouverneur Police Chief

The Gouverneur Police Department has a new chief.

Former Sgt. Laurina Greenhill has been named chief at a salary of $71,360.
Greenhill takes over from provisional chief Gordon Ayen, who will return to the sergeant's job.
Ayen had been provisional chief of the department since June 2012 when he replaced retired longtime Chief David Whitton.
Greenhill said she was able "to work some things out" that allowed her to accept the chief's job.
She said she looks forward to helping bring stability to the police department and the chief's position.
