Group Voices Concern About Upcoming ATV Event

With just days before Lewis County's annual SNIRT Run begins, at least one group is saying the event does more harm than good.

SNIRT, which combines the words 'snow' and 'dirt', attracts all-terrain vehicle riders to the area.

It's also a boom for the tourism industry.

However, the Adirondack Council has written county leaders to expressing their concerns about the event.

Council officials are worried about potential harm to the enviroment as well as adequate policing.

County Legislature Chair Jack Bush tells 7 News the event is well policed and "environmental groups can go overboard with their concerns."

SNIRT will be held this Saturday.
