Guns Stolen From Herb Philipson's Store

By Diane Rutherford

Seven long guns valued at $2,000 were stolen overnight from Herb Philipson's sporting goods and clothing store in Watertown.

City police said an intruder smashed through the glass windows at the front of the store at approximately 1:45 a.m. Friday.

The glass cases where the guns were stored were also broken.

The store, which located at 1283 Arsenal Street in the Price Chopper Plaza, was open for business Friday as workers repaired the windows.

Police are hoping surveillance pictures will yield something.

Anyone with information or who may have seen suspicious activity is urged to contact the Watertown Police Department at 782-2233.
