Several people were taken into custody at daybreak Friday during the second phase of a multi-agency drug sweep in the Massena area.
Massena Police Chief Timmy Currier says four people were taken into custody, each charged under federal indictment with possession with intent to distribute heroin or cocaine and conspiracy to to possess with intent to distribute heroin or cocaine.
Arrested were 33 year old Star Perrin, 19 year old Ian Hendricks, 25 year old Adam Gauthier and 25 year old Matthew Malu, who is also known as "Capo."
All four are from Massena.
Malu was acquitted Friday in St. Lawrence County Court in connection with an attempted home invasion.
Currier said seach warrants were executed at two Massena residences and one in Norfolk, during which police seized cash and marijuana.
Friday's sweep was part of Operation Problem Child that resulted in about a dozen people being taken into federal custody on drug charges earlier this month.
"Today's second round of search warrants and arrest should demonstrate that this agency is committed to working with our law enforcement partners at the federal, state, county and local level to deal with the illegal drug problem in our community," Currier said in a news release.
Currier said the arrests were the results of several months of joint investigation by local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement.
Among the agencies involved are Massena village police, St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, the county drug task force, St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police, state police, Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the district attorneys of St. Lawrence and Franklin counties.
