Hammond Man Pleads Not Guilty In 50-Count Sex Indictment
A 44-year-old Hammond man was returned to jail on $50,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty to sex charges in a 50-count indictment against him.
Robert Petrie Jr. of 6 Bailey Road entered the not guilty plea Monday in St. Lawrence County Court.
He was indicted on 24 counts of predatory sexual assault against a child, 24 counts of first degree criminal sexual act, one count of course of sexual conduct against a child and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Court documents accuse Petrie of having sexual contact with a 12-year-old child several times in the town of Macomb.
The incidents allegedly happened on weekends in June, July and August last year, on Thanksgiving Day weekend in last year, and in January and February this year.
