Have An Invention Or Business Idea? New Program Can Help

Tools

Do you have an idea for a new business or invention?

There are now Innovation Hot Spot Incubators to help move your concept along.

It's thanks to a grant won by the North Country Regional Economic Development Center.

The incubators will be staffed one day a week in Watertown, Ogdensburg, Massena, Plattsburgh and Saranac Lake.

If your idea is found to have merit, it gets forwarded to the Small Business Incubator at Clarkson University.

"It's a conversation. It's just seeing what they want to do with the idea, where they want to go," said Alicia Cabrera, Hot Spot Launch manager.

"Frequently, you'll have entrepreneurs who don't have access to the resources, don't have access to the expertise. This brings it all together into one spot," said Jim Wright, executive director of the Development Authority of the North Country.

The new program has a website where ideas can be submitted.
