Feedback: Herrings Man Says He Won $3 Million Lottery

Tools

For the fourth time in five years, it appears a lottery ticket worth at least $1 million has been sold in Carthage.

Bill Barlow of Herrings confirmed he won a $3 million prize playing a scratch-off ticket he purchased at the Carthage Market.

He wouldn't say when he bought the ticket, what game he played or when he plans to collect his money.

The New York State Lottery declined comment.

It seems Carthage and, more specifically, the Carthage Market, has an uncanny track record when it comes to the state lottery.

In May, Barbara Furney of Natural Bridge received a $3 million check from the state after she bought a winning Magnificent Millions scratch-off ticket at Carthage Market.

In 2006, a Carthage man won $1 million playing a scratch-off ticket purchased at the Carthage Market.

Last month, John Giovo of Watertown accepted a $1 million check from the state lottery; he won the prize by playing the Wheel of Fortune scratch-off ticket game at Porter's Wine and Liquors in Carthage.
