High School Graduation Day!

For many across the North Country, it was the culmination of years of studying and hard work - graduation day!

At Watertown High School Saturday morning, graduating seniors, family, and friends packed the auditorium to celebrate.

And for people who weren't lucky enough to get a seat, there was an internet feed available too.

At least one newly-minted Watertown grad was lucky to be able to walk in the ceremony Saturday morning. 18-year-old Travis Metheny was flown to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse Friday night after he was injured in a car crash in Lewis County.

The crash happened at the intersection of Pine Grove and Otter Creek Roads in the town of Greig.

Metheny was a passenger in a car driven by 18-year-old Cody Gibson - who also graduated from Watertown high this weekend - when Gibson allegedly failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with another vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Danyele Meiss of Lyons Falls.

Meiss was taken to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Utica for treatment of her injuries. Her passenger and another passenger in Gibson's car were taken to Lewis County General Hospital. Gibson and a third passenger were not injured.

Metheny was flown to Syracuse with non-life-threatening injuries and was released in time to walk in his high school graduation ceremony Saturday morning.
