The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino resort was evacuated for a short time Thursday night when fire broke out in an unoccupied room on the seventh floor of the hotel.

The fire, which caused minor damage to the room, broke out shortly after 10 p.m. and was quickly put out by casino workers with a hand-held fire extinguisher.

Officials say two unidentified employees were treated for smoke inhalation. Fire investigators traced the cause of the blaze to a pinched wire in a floor lamp.
