Evie Dixon is only 27 years old and has a pacemaker.

Her health issues began when she was two with fainting spells and progressed into seizures.

But, it was only in the last couple years that she got a correct diagnosis and the help she needed.

"I ended up finding out that I did not faint from heat, that I actually had a severe arrhythmias in my heartbeat, which is tachy-brady syndrome," she said.

With the pacemaker, Evie is feeling better than ever.

She works full-time at River Hospital and leads a full life.

She will be among those walking at this year's North County Heart Walk and is one of this year's inspirational honorees.

Evie encourages others to join her.

"People can still register online at northcountryheartwalk.org or they can just come that day with donations and register the day of the walk," said Stacy Spaziani of the American Heart Association.

Registration at the Watertown Fairgrounds begins Saturday at 8 a.m.

The survivor ceremony is at 9:30 a.m. and the walk starts 10 a.m.

The money raised helps people like Evie every day.

"My life is a thousand times better than what it was. I could not be more grateful for everything that's happened," she said.
