How Will Health Care Ruling Affect North Country Politics?

Democrat Bill Owens and Republican challenger Matt Doheny are in a contentious race for the 21st Congressional District seat.

The two strongly differ on what the ruling means for people in the north country.

"Almost every single one of us are either directly impacted, or our family members are directly impacted, so this is a good thing," said Owens, who currently represents the north country in Congress.

"Obamacare is a tax and that wasn't really a large item of discussion over the course of the past several months," said Doheny.

And because of that, Doheny says the act needs to be repealed.

"We have to go ahead and repeal it and also replace it with things that will go ahead and allow people to not only have mobility, but a greater sense of control to know that the government is not going to make their health care decisions for them," said Doheny.

Congressman Owens counters by saying he hasn't seen a good alternative plan from critics.

"Basically, leave the crisis in place and take no action going forward.  That to me is unacceptable," said Owens.

By now, most people have probably made up their mind about so-called 'Obamacare.'

But, it's unclear how many of those people feel strongly enough to influence how they vote in November.
