Hundreds Turn Out For Job Fair

Terrance Jackson has been looking for work ever since he left the military in 2009.

To improve his chances of finding employment, he attended the Jefferson-Lewis County Job Fair on Monday.

Jackson says his 13 years of military experience makes him a great candidate.

"I would say I am employable as well as trainable," he said.

There were about 60 employers at the fair.

They were looking to hire job hunters like Jackson.

Some say this is a a sign of an improving job market in the north country. 

"Because we're going to be expanding our services, we're hoping to be hiring quite a few people in the very near future," said Margaret Gallaway of Resource for Independent Living.

"This is very encouraging because we have represented here about 500 jobs," said Cheryl Mayforth, Jefferson-Lewis County Workforce Investment Board.

Organizers say about 1000 people turned out to the event.

Employers say if you're looking for work, you want to make sure you stand out when you go into the interview}

"In this day and age there's a lot of people looking for jobs and you need to do something to impress somebody," said Mike Callahan, president and CEO of CREG Systems.

For Jackson, he says he is ready to do whatever it takes to find work.
