Hundreds Turn Out for Cerroni Run

Tools

Hundreds of runners, walkers, and even strollers took off on the 5K Sunday morning in Black River to honor a man who had served ten years as a captain in the US Marine Corps in the Persian Gulf, but died in a snowmobile accident here eight years ago.

Bagpipes sounded just before the race took off in Black River.  This is the fourth year of the event.  Last year 335 people took part, this year, there were 360.  Michael Cerroni's mother walked the 5K.

18-year-old Keegan Rankin won the race.  Profits from the race fund two scholarships for Carthage High School.
