Incoming Watertown City Manager Meets With Staff, Media

It was meet-the-city-manager-day at City Hall on Thursday.

Sharon Addison was greeted by department heads and rank-and-file workers.

She also spent time with the man she'll replace on July 16, acting City Manager John Krol.

"Being brought up to speed on some of the issues that are going on, some of the priorities, the focus," said Addison.

Addison's previous job required secrecy.

She worked for the National Security Agency.

Her new job is just the opposite since city residents will expect transparency.

"I don't see many challenges there because I operated in a very transparent manner, obviously, with my leadership - supervisors, peers, subordinates.  We were not able to disclose things to the media, yet my ability to operate transparently was always core to my routine in business,"  said Addison.

Meanwhile, it was Krol's last day at City Hall, although he's still on call through next week.

"Met a lot of good folks here in Watertown, rank-and-file employees, citizens, people on various committees. Honestly, I've very much enjoyed my stint," said Krol.

Krol will return to his retirement in St. Lawrence County.

Addison has one more week to prepare for her new career in municipal management.
