Inmate's Violence Sends 2 Watertown Prison Officers To Hospital

Officials said an inmate at the Watertown Correctional Facility was receiving counseling Tuesday when he turned and punched an officer.

A second officer responding to the assault slipped and fell, resulting in a call for an ambulance.

The state Department of Corrections said both officers were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The DOC did not release the inmate's name, but said this was the second time he has been violent.

As a result, the inmate, who is serving time for burglary, has been moved to a special housing unit, officials said.

Officials said this is the fourth assault at the prison since October 2010.
