Investigators are releasing a few more details about the death of a child on Fort Drum.

Officials now say the child was 4 years old. The child -- whose gender is still not being released -- was rushed from on-post housing to a local hospital, where he or she died.

Criminal Investigation Command spokesperson Christopher Grey said they weren't releasing any more information at this time "to protect the integrity of the investigation."

The child died Monday.

Following is our original story:

The death of a young child at Fort Drum is being investigated by the Army's Criminal Investigation Division.

Christopher Grey, a spokesperson for the Criminal Investigation Command in Quantico, Virginia, said the child died Monday in family housing on post.

He said the CID investigates all deaths on Army installations and that additional information would likely be released later this week.

Grey declined to release further details about the investigation.
