The death of a soldier on Fort Drum is under investigation.

Officials say 28 year old Sergeant Carl Brock died Monday at his residence on post.

So far, there's no word on what may have caused his death, but it's under investigation by the Army Criminal Investigation Command, which investigates all deaths on post.

Sergeant Brock, an Oklahoma native, was a communications transmission systems operator with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

The following is a news release from Fort Drum:

A 10th Mountain Division Soldier with 210 Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team died Monday December 17 at his residence on post.

The soldier is Sergeant Carl E. Brock, age 28 of Claremore, Oklahoma.

He was a communications transmission systems operator.

Brock joined the Army in August 2007.

After training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to Fort Gordon, Georgia, Taylor Barracks, Mannheim, Germany and Camp Red Cloud, Korea before arriving at Fort Drum in November 2011.

He deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from July 2009 to July 2010.

Brock's awards and decorations include five Army Achievement Medals, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Marksmanship Qualification Badge w/Rifle.

He completed the Combat Life Savers and USAF Airlift Planner Courses.

Brock's death is currently under investigation by Special Agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command.

An investigation is not an assumption of any wrong doing; all deaths on post are fully investigated by Army CID as they are the agency responsible to do so.
