They've spent countless hours in the library and stayed late after school.

More than 40 students and faculty were rewarded for their hard work Thursday at the annual SUNY Jefferson Student Awards Ceremony.

It's Jefferson Community College's way of giving the students a pat on the back.

"There is a purpose for what we do and it's nice to be recognized," said award recipient Kaitlyn Murphy.

"It's important that we as faculty and staff recognize what they're doing and their accomplishments," said Tom Wojcikowski, assistant director of student activities.

Awards were given to those who excelled in business, liberal arts and math.
