An inmate at the St. Lawrence County jail has been accused of assaulting another inmate.

Sheriff's deputies say 71 year old James Pleau was charged with second degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing in connection with the latest incident.

Police say he is serving a sentence for first degree attempted sexual abuse.

Pleau was arrested last March for allegedly restraining a 13 year old child and make unwanted sexual contact with the victim.

He was arraigned on the assault charge in Canton town court and was ordered held on $5,000 bail.
