Jail Inmate Faces 9 Felonies For Violating Order Of Protection

An inmate at the St. Lawrence County jail faces nine felony charges for allegedly making telephone calls from the jail to someone covered by an order of protection.

Sheriff deputies say 31 year old Jonathan Emlaw was charged with nine counts of criminal contempt.

Police say he allegedly put false information on his phone call log, which prevented corrections officers from knowing he was calling someone against court orders.

Deputies say the nine calls were allegedly made over a three-day period and were brought to the attention of jail officials.

Deputies say they are continuing to investigate and Emlaw will face the charges in Canton village court at a later date.
